Twenty jobs are being created in Peterborough at a drainage specialist business. Andy Sharpe, who is the new owner of Peterborough-based Metro Rod says the jobs will be created over six months as part of a year of growth.
Mr Sharpe has recently taken over the reins at the business and brings with him 30 years of experience in the sector. The company works mainly in the commercial and industrial sectors providing a range of drainage services, including drain unblocking and CCTV drain surveys as well as a complete range of domestic and commercial tanker and pumping services Mr Sharpe said: “This is a high-demand area where our services help businesses operate efficiently. “For our team of engineers, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional training which goes well above and beyond the basics that are required for the jobs we undertake.
"Our engineers take huge pride in their work, and we are looking for people with a high customer service ethic as well as an appetite to learn.” Mr Sharpe began his career with Metro Rod in Peterborough in the 1990s and has been involved in plumbing and drainage ever since, running a variety of businesses. Since 2016 he has been working as Technical Support Manager for Metro Rod’s national support office, working with teams across the UK to develop training for the company’s over 600 engineers.
He has also had a focus on innovation and technological developments in the sector, of which there have been many, as equipment and machinery become ever more sophisticated. The Peterborough office will service towns along the A1 corridor..
