1 2 Prayagraj: Two criminals were injured and arrested in two separate encounters in Pratapgarh and Fatehpur districts late Monday night, police said. In the first case, Salman of Raniganj was injured and arrested by Lalganj police after an encounter near Derwa Road in Pratapgarh late Monday night. The injured criminal was admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
Police also seized one country made pistol of 0.315 bore along with one used and two live cartridges near the site. Police said 14 criminal cases were pending against Salman.
In the second case, Shubham Patel alias Ashish of Aung (Fatehpur) was injured and arrested in Fatehpur on Monday night. Police said a joint team of Lalauli police and the intelligence wing asked two persons on a bike to stop near Lalauli Road. However, the duo tried to flee but their vehicle skidded, and they fell.
When the police tried to catch them, they opened fire. In retaliation, police also fired and left Shubham Patel injured. Patel along with his accomplice-- Akhilesh Kumar Yadav of Bakewar—was also arrested.
Police recovered one 0.315 bore and one 0.12 bore pistol along with two live and one used cartridge, Rs 1450 cash, and a bike near the spot.
