The incident occurred behind a housing society at Pawarnagar on Gujarwadi Road in Katraj around 11.30pm on Friday.
The victim succumbed to multiple head injuries. Police identified the victim as Manohar Shinde , a resident of Katraj. The arrested individuals include a rental car owner, Rohit Asure (32) and his cousin, Keshav Asure (26), both from Nimbalkarwadi at Katraj.
Senior inspector Sawlaram Salgaonkar said the victim, Shinde, repeatedly warned a woman relative not to meet the Asure brothers, but in vain. Shinde also warned the suspects to refrain from visiting the woman's residence. It changed nothing.
Salgaonkar said there were frequent disputes between Shinde, the woman and the suspects over the issue. The Asure brothers, upon finding Shinde alone, brutally attacked him with a stick. The attackers sped away after the murder, he said.
A police team led by sub inspector Nilesh Mokashi investigated certain clues and traced them to Gewrai Road in Beed. They took the suspects into custody and recovered the car used in the crime, he said. The suspects were brought back to the city for further action, he added.
