Two held for duping Thane resident of Rs 3.41L in fake flat deal

Vadodara: The crime branch has arrested two men accused of cheating a Thane resident out of Rs 3.41 lakh. The accused had been absconding since an FIR was filed against them in Thane in Oct last year.

According to police, the accused — Shahnawaz Sheikh and Shaakir Mansurwala, both residents of Tandalja — had posted an online advertisement offering a flat for sale in Mumbai. The complainant, who came across the advertisement, contacted the duo and was called to their office. The complainant alleged that the accused introduced themselves using fake identities and claimed to be the owners of the property.



They took Rs 3.41 lakh from him but failed to execute the sale deed or transfer the flat in his name.The case is currently under further investigation.
