Two men booked for thrashing stray dog in Camp with planks and stones

Pune: The Cantonment police have registered a case of cruelty to animals against two men from Camp for brutally thrashing a stray dog with wooden planks and stones on Sunday night. Police said the community dog, Bittu, stays with a homeless man on MG Road in Camp. After spotting Bittu in pain following the attack, the homeless man took the injured dog to an animal welfare NGO, where he received treatment.

Senior inspector Girish Dighavkar of the Cantonment police told TOI, "The NGO officials checked the dog and treated him for the injuries. After learning about the dog being beaten by the attackers, the NGO officials decided to lodge a complaint with the police. Padmini Stump (67) of Gurunanaknagar lodged the complaint with us on Monday night.



" Dighavkar said, "Our team studied the CCTV footage of the spot, which shows two young men beating the dog with wooden planks and stones after he barked at them. We have identified the duo and will soon call them to the police station for further inquiry.".
