Driving the news: Uber India has launched ‘store pickup’ services in nine cities — Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati and Ludhiana. Zoom in: Currently, Uber offers the delivery of items while payments are made directly to the stores. Going forward, it plans to also collect payments from customers on behalf of these stores.



State of play: The launch of Uber India's store pickup service, which is already live in the US, comes as Reliance Retail-backed Dunzo struggles to keep itself afloat. Last month, Walmart-backed PhonePe exited delivery of non-food categories via the ONDC network , while Ola restarted some of these services.
