The cheerleading club, which has two teams, Inferno and Lightning, claimed their victories this spring. Inferno, the Level 1 all-girl team, set a record points score for any routine by a Spirits team at the Legacy-Alpha & Omega University Nationals at the NEC in Birmingham. Lightning, the Level 2 non-tumble all-girl team, won their category at the ICC (International Cheerleading Coalition) Championship in Nottingham by a margin of seven points.
This is a significant accomplishment in a sport where teams are usually separated by fractions of a point. They both 'Hit 0' in Nottingham, meaning no points were deducted for falls.
