SHAH ALAM: A retiree found himself in hot soup for keeping two pistols and a rifle at his home.The 69-year-old also had four airsoft pistols and rifles, which resembled real firearms, in his possession.Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said police also seized four magazines along with 186 rounds of various types of ammunition after raiding the suspects home in Serendah on Monday.

"The suspect claimed to have been collecting these firearms for between 10 and 20 years as a hobby."He claims that the weapons were all gifts from acquaintances," he told reporters today.He said among the items seized were two handguns — a revolver and a CZ 75 Compact Cal.



9 pistol — one rifle (Cal .22/5.5M), airsoft rifles resembling AK47 and M4 rifles, as well as a Glock P38 pistol and a box containing a taser gun with two batteries.

"Checks revealed that three of the items were real firearms while the other four were airsoft weapons."All of them were stored in a safe and a special cabinet in his house. Further checks revealed that the suspect did not have a licence for the firearms," said Hussein.

He explained that further investigations were underway to determine if the firearms were used in any criminal activities."We are also tracking down the individuals who allegedly gifted the weapons to him"Further checks also revealed that the suspect had placed a fake Royal Perak Crests on two of his vehicles, a BMW and a Mitsubishi Triton."This was confirmed after a verification with the Ceremonial and International Conference Secretariat Office (BIUPA) showed no record of the suspect receiving any royal titles, medals, honours, or awards from any Malaysian Royal Institution.

"He said police had recorded statements from five individuals to date."The suspect has been remanded for six days to assist further investigations."The case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Firearms Act (Increased Penalties) 1971, Section 36 and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960, and Section 5 of the Emblems and Names Act 1963 (Improper Use) amended in 2016.
