A fringe festival show will be imposing tariffs on Americans who attend - unless they can prove they're a Democrat. The Treason Show, which will be coming to Brighton as part of the Brighton Fringe festival, has said that it will be imposing 25 per cent tariffs to American attendees. The organisers have said that there will be exemptions to US citizens who can prove they’re Democrats, and that they will be given a 10 per cent discount.
This comes as US President Donald Trump unveiled an array of tariffs on countries on April 2 in what he dubbed “liberation day”. He then abruptly backed off his tariffs on most nations for 90 days on April 9 after facing a global market meltdown, whilst further increasing the tax rate on Chinese imports to 125 per cent. The US president imposed a 10 per cent tariff on UK goods, and a 25 per cent levy on car imports.
