UST ousts UP from Final Four race; La Salle completes comeback vs Adamson in UAAP women's volleyball

The University of Santo Tomas eliminated the University of the Philippines from the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball Final Four race after the former's 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 victory against the Fighting Maroons on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Angge Poyos led the offense for the Golden Tigresses with 19 points, while Reg Jurado and Em Banagua had 13 and 12 points apiece as the España crew improved to 9-4. Niña Ytang was the only double digit scorer for the Diliman-based squad with 16 points as UP's Final Four chances slipped away with the loss which brought them to 6-7.

The win assured UST of a Final Four spot, and tagged along De La Salle University and Far Eastern University in the process. La Salle, meanwhile, completed a 25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-4 come-from-behind victory against Adamson University. Angel Canino and Shevana Laput had 22 and 21 points, respectively, as the Lady Spikers improved to 9-4, tied with UST.



The Taft-based squad also survived Shaina Nitura's 35-point explosion from the already-ran Lady Falcons who slipped to 5-7. —JKC, GMA Integrated News.
