14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is grabbing attention all over the world as the new star of the IPL. Rajasthan Royals' Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history yesterday by becoming the youngest player to make his debut in the IPL. Suryavanshi is only 14 years and 23 days old when he opened Rajasthan's innings against Lucknow yesterday along with impact player Yashwasi Jaiswal.
Suryavanshi opened as a replacement for captain Sanju Samson, who was absent from the team due to injury. Suryavanshi is also the only player to have played in the IPL so far who was born after the first season of the IPL. Suryavanshi of Bihar was born in 2011.
Rajasthan bought Vaibhav for Rs 1.1 crore in the recent IPL mega auction. 'Suryavanshi was prescribed a very strict diet to prepare for the IPL.
Mutton and pizza have been completely eliminated from his diet. Since he was a little boy, he loved chicken, mutton and pizza. But now he doesn't eat such foods,’ said his coach Manish Ojha.
Manish said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a fearless batsman. ‘He will go a long way. You can tell that by the way he starts the innings.
It is said that he is a big fan of Brian Lara. He is a mix of Lara and Yuvraj Singh. He has Yuvraj's style of attack,’ the coach added.
