Vehari - The district administration of Vehari is actively advancing plans for urban development, commercial growth, anti-encroachment operations, and a successful anti-polio campaign. These priorities were addressed during multiple important meetings chaired by Deputy Commissioner Imrana Touqeer. In the District Planning and Design Committee meeting, approvals were granted for commercial use of land in 37 shop cases, and technical scrutiny of three housing schemes was endorsed.

DC Imrana Touqeer emphasized the need for timely disposal of commercial cases to foster economic activity. She directed that NOCs for business and commercial buildings must be issued strictly in accordance with legal standards and public interest.Another session reviewed progress on various initiatives including anti-encroachment operations, the cleanliness campaign, pushcart markets, renovation of graveyards, construction of public toilets, and restoration of streetlights.



The DC instructed that all departments remain active in implementing initiatives under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision. She emphasized providing cold water and ORS at camps to protect pedestrians from the heatwave.In a separate meeting regarding the anti-polio campaign, detailed preparations for the five-day drive beginning April 21 were reviewed.

CEO Health Dr. Fahd Waheed informed that 641,220 children in the district will receive polio drops through 4,352 mobile teams, 109 fixed teams, 178 transit teams, 402 area in-charges, and 92 UC MOs. DC Imrana Touqeer directed that the campaign be executed as a national duty, with full inter-departmental coordination.

She stressed quality assurance, field monitoring, and making sure every child receives the two life-saving drops. Special attention is to be given to nomadic populations and children in slums. Polio teams must be deployed at bus stands, transport hubs, entry/exit points, and railway stations, with police presence for support.
