Verlyn Dale Krumland, age 83, passed away at home in Taylor, Texas on April 14, 2025. Verlyn grew up farming in Platte County, Neb. with his father and after high school, joined the Army National Guard.

Upon completion of his military service, he became a 'real-life' cowboy while ranching and herding cattle on his horse Rusty. Verlyn was a member of the Silver Spur Saddle Club. He and Sharon raised three daughters in Monroe, Neb.

and they loved watching their girls play sports. Verlyn was proud of being a firefighter and EMT with the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. Verlyn worked 30 years for the Platte County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator.

Verlyn's faith was strong and he was a member of the Monroe United Methodist church and later becoming a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church in Creston, Neb. where they moved.

Verlyn took his family on numerous road trips, resulting in many adventures that usually involved his love of fishing. He also enjoyed gardening, collecting coins, playing his guitar and singing and was even a member of a local band for a short time. After retiring, Verlyn and Sharon were fortunate to live near each of their daughters and were residents of California and Montana, before finally residing in Texas.

Verlyn is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Martha (Sander) Krumland; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Elva and Elmer Egger and Elaine and Robert Coffey. Verlyn is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharon (Mihulka) Krumland; and daughters, Christine (Robert) Neater, Corrine (Damon) Gil, and Carla (James) Wall; his seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. We will forever cherish the memories of a life well lived and the impact Verlyn had on all of us.
