Everton have been having an excellent run of form under David Moyes, although victory against Manchester City proved to be a step too far.The Toffees gave a good account of themselves at Goodison Park on Saturday (19 April) but succumbed to a 2-0 defeat after Nico O’Reilly broke the deadlock in the 84th minute. The game was changed when James Tarkowski was forced off the field with a hamstring injury at the start of the second half, leaving the rusty Michael Keane to take his place.

Nevertheless, City proved to have that extra bit of firepower needed as they looked to boost their aims of Champions League football next season.

According to journalist Tony Scott via a post on X (19 April), City fans were heard chanting about the previous PSR charges against Everton during the game, accusing the Blues of “cheating”.Moyes has revitalised Everton. Furthermore, when you consider the extent to which Everton were punished for their breaches of the financial rules in the past and the possibility that City could get away from their charges without anything close to that, it is bound to be frustrating for the Blues – and is nothing short of shameful from the away fans. The Merseyside outfit has had to spend some time building their club back up and The Friedkin Group’s takeover at Everton has certainly helped to put that back on the right track. Circumstances of late have been frustrating, although the Toffees can now look ahead to the future with optimism as they prepare to make the move to Bramley-Moore Dock at the end of the campaign, knowing this should make them a more financially stable club.

Moyes will be eager to carry on with the impressive work he has shown so far and the Blues should be looking towards a life further up the Premier League table next term. The post View: Manchester City fans should be ashamed by what they chanted v Everton appeared first on Goodison News..
