Vishal, Shreya to represent India at World & Asian Fencing C’ship

Excelsior Sports CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 26: Jammu and Kashmir’s fencing stars, Vishal Thapar and Shreya Gupta, have been selected to represent India at the World and Asian Fencing Championships, following stellar performances at the national selection trials held on April 25, in Haldwani, Uttarakhand.Their selection comes on the back of a strong showing at the 35th Senior National Fencing Championship 2024-25 in Kannur, Kerala, where both athletes secured bronze medals in the sabre event, representing J&K under the J&K Fencing Association (JKFA).Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, congratulated the fencers and wished them success.

Formal approval for their international participation has been granted.International fencer Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Adv. Supriya Chouhan and Maninder Pal Singh lauded their achievement.
