Way back on December 14th, 2024, Mainz 05 shook up the Bundesliga a bit by taking down Bayern Munich 2-1 in a match where Bayern Munich just simply was not that good. That victory has given Mainz 05’s players a reason to believe that they can do it again — and keep their own Champions League hopes for next season alive. “We saw in the first half of the season that we can beat them.

Given how banged up Bayern Munich is, it would not be wholly shocking for Mainz 05 to give the Bavarians a test. However, Bayern Munich has rallied around its situation and played well (for the most part) of late.
