Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is celebrating his 38th birthday on April 30, as his team Mumbai Indians (MI) gear up to play their next match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh International Stadium in Jaipur. On this special occasion, Rohit spoke on Vimal Kumar's YouTube channel and shared nuggets about the way he likes to bring up this day, which usually falls during the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. "Every birthday is special, particularly when your loved ones, family and friends make efforts for you.
It's not like we make any special arrangements for our birthdays. For so many years now, I have been spending this day with my IPL team. So all the players come along, there is a cake cutting ceremony, there's nothing special, but still, it's a very nice day overall," Rohit said.
He added, "Before I played for India, alongside three-four friends of mine, I used to go out and eat good food on our birthdays. We used to eat Chinese food in stalls and wait for each other's birthdays to be able to celebrate that. It is a special memory.
" Rohit has had a topsy-turvy run in IPL 2025, beginning the season on a disappointing note, before bouncing back with consecutive half-centuries for the first time in the competition since 2016. The right-handed batter has aggregated 240 runs across nine games in the current campaign, averaging 30 at a strike rate of 156.86.
He has notched 18 fours and 17 maximums, in addition to clocking a couple of 50+ scores. Despite his tremendous accolades as an IPL captain, having won the title six times as a player and on five occasions as the skipper, Rohit has crossed the 500-run mark just once in his career, i.e.
in 2013. This time around, he has donned a more evolved role, looking to produce short impactful bursts in the powerplay. Rohit's form will be at the centre of all attention as MI expedite their charge of qualifying for the playoffs.
