PHOENIX — Showers and scattered thunderstorms will develop across the Valley Sunday and continue through the night , according to the National Weather Service (NWS). >> Download the 12News app for the latest local breaking news straight to your phone. NWS says storms have been developing east of Phoenix and to the west in Riverside and La Paz Counties.
Storms are also popping up just to the south of Phoenix. The storms will be capable of heavy rain, strong gusty winds, and lightning NWS says gusty winds and heavy downpours will be possible with any thunderstorm. Total rain amounts are projected to reach a quarter to one-half inch, with localized higher amounts, according to NWS.
