The 2025 senior hurling championship gets under way this afternoon as Wexford welcome Antrim to Chadwicks Wexford Park. For Antrim manager Davy Fitzgerald it is a meeting with one of his former teams. The Clare man spent five years at the helm in Wexford, guiding them to a Leinster title in 2019.
He is now in charge of Antrim, who endured a difficult campaign in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League, beating only relegated duo Laois and Westmeath. Wexford also had a topsy-turvy league campaign. While they won away to Clare and Limerick, they ended up finishing seventh in Division 1A.
The bookies make Wexford the overwhelming favourites to get their Championship season off to a winning start, but Keith Rossiter's side have been unpredictable in recent seasons. The match is scheduled for a 2 pm throw-in and will not be televised live. But you can follow the action right here on Irish Mirror Sport.
