What Hull's new ambulance station will look like

The station has been described as 'much needed' by Yorkshire Ambulance Service

A new ambulance station off Clough Road in Hull has taken the next step after receiving a go ahead from Hull City Council . Last month Hull City Council approved Yorkshire Ambulance Service 's (YAS) plans to change the use of a warehouse in Sissons Way, into an ambulance station. The plans said the new station is "much needed.

" Following this, YAS have now submitted a further application, this time for external changes to the building. The application includes the recladding on the building and new signage. The main aesthetic change will be made to the northern side of the building which will receive a facelift with wooden cladding and a green upper.

The Eastern, Western, and Southern sides of the building will keep their metallic facades. Despite YAS already having ambulance stations in East Hull, West Hull, and Sutton Fields, documents submitted to the council state: "Hull is identified as one of YAS’s most urgent areas for improvement due to the limitations of existing stations and the impact on efficiencies, performance, training and recruitment. Existing stations in Hull are significantly undersized; with some sites lacking sufficient parking for staff.

" The document also states: "The proposed new ambulance hub would provide a strategic opportunity to dramatically reduce refurbishment costs of existing stations and supporting premises and also allow for much needed additional space capacity." The site's car park would have space for 85 YAS vehicles and a further 24 spaces for staff, including three for blue-badge holders.
