NHS in Cambridgeshire releases details of where to get medical help over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Several NHS services, including pharmacies, will remain operational throughout the long weekend. Pharmacists will be on hand to offer expert advice and treatment for common health issues like colds, indigestion, and stomach aches. Through the Pharmacy First initiative, they are also able to dispense prescription medications for seven common conditions, without requiring a GP appointment.

Minor Injury Units will be open in Ely and Doddington, and the Urgent Treatment Centre in Peterborough will be operational. These facilities cater to various issues for both adults and children, including sprains, wounds and cuts, and minor burns. For urgent medical help that is not an emergency, people are advised to use NHS 111 online or call 111 free of charge.

This service offers advice and assistance in connecting patients with the right care service. In emergencies, people should always call 999. Dr Fiona Head, chief medical officer at NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, said: "The NHS is open 24/7, including during the bank holidays.

"You can help us look after your health by getting support from the right service for your needs. "If you’re not sure where to go with your issue, think 111 first. "NHS 111 is free to use and is available every day of the year, 24 hours a day.

"It can give you advice and help you get seen by the right team." Further information on staying healthy this spring can be found at the dedicated webpage on the NHS website. Latest advice on treating common illnesses can also be found on the NHS website or via the NHS app.
