The Chicago White Sox opened a three-game series at home Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, but a Monday off day and return to the South Side after a 10-game road trip did little to shift their fortunes. They dropped the series opener, 7-2, continuing their trend of lackluster offensive showings following blowout wins. It marked their second straight loss.

Anyone hoping for a bounce-back performance after Sunday's crushing walk-off defeat was left disappointed. Early Homers Not Enough as Brewers Take Opener There was a brief glimmer of hope early. Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr.

In the sixth, Wilson ran into trouble after allowing Joey Ortiz to reach base on an infield single, steal second, and score on William Contreras' base hit. Collins, who walked, advanced to third on the play. It prompted manager Will Venable to bring in lefty Brandon Eisert.

Eisert struck out Christian Yelich, then intentionally walked Rhys Hoskins to load the bases for lefty Sal Frelick. That strategy backfired immediately, as Eisert plunked Frelick to bring in the go-ahead run. Caleb Durbin then punched a two-run single through the left side to give Milwaukee a 5-2 lead.

It didn't get better from there. Jared Shuster allowed two more runs to score in the eighth after a bunt single, a hit-by-pitch, and a Miguel Vargas error loaded the bases. Jackson Chourio's infield single brought home one, and a groundout by Collins tacked on another.

After collecting three hits in the first inning, the White Sox managed just one more hit the rest of the night—a single from Vargas, plus three walks and a hit-by-pitch (shoutout to Edgar Quero for wearing one for the team).
