Evan Woodard is a Baltimore-based historian and explorer who has made a name for himself by uncovering lost artifacts. He runs Salvage Arc, a popular Instagram account where he shares his discoveries. He also started the Salvage Arc Foundation in 2024 to build a museum and community center in Fells Point.
Woodard’s passion for history began during the pandemic when he started digging into Baltimore’s old privies. "My journey began during the challenging times of the pandemic when I took a shovel into my hands, not knowing that I was about to unearth a deep connection to Baltimore's hidden histories. With each dig into our city's old privies, I brought to light not just artifacts but the vibrant stories of those who walked these streets long before us," he wrote on his website.

Meet Saints QB Tyler Shough’s Wife In late 2022, he started using magnet fishing, a method that uses strong magnets tied to ropes to pull metal objects from the water. Woodard has been fishing in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and nearby areas, finding alot of different things, from everyday trash to historical items like a shipping hook from the 1800s.
He has even been able to find a late Victorian bench. Woodard and his group meet every Thursday at Fells Point’s Broadway Pier for magnet fishing, as highlighted through one of his pinned reels on Instagram. “There's an endless supply down there,” he told ABC in an interview.
