Surat: An attempt to murder case was registered after a 45-year-old man, Saurabh Solanki, was attacked in Kathor area of the Utran police station area. The victim is a witness in an attempt to murder case in which the accused had fired shots at a man in June 2020. Utran police booked Prakash Maysuriya and his son Akash for attempt to murder.
Police also invoked the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as the victim belongs to the SC community. According to details of the complaint by Khushal Solanki (78), an advocate, he lives with his family in Kathor village with his son Saurabh, who is also an advocate. His relative, Arvind Solanki, was shot at in 2020 by the accused Prakash Maysuriya.
A case of firing and attempt to murder was registered at Kamrej police station. Saurabh is one of the witnesses in this case. After Maysuriya was arrested in this case, he often pressured and threatened Saurabh to turn hostile.
Maysuriya also told Saurabh to give a statement in his favour so that he was released as innocent in this case. However, Saurabh refused to do so. On April 25, Saurabh was again threatened by Maysuriya and his son Ayush near Ramji Mandir in Kathor village.
As both had a quarrel, Maysuriya and his son attacked Saurabh with a tree-cutting tool on his head, face, and other parts and fled. Saurabh was seriously injured and he was shifted to a private hospital in Kholvad and later to PP Maniya Hospital in Kapodra. Police arrested the father-son duo and started an investigation.
