Ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash between Wolves and Leicester, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Even with five gameweeks to go in the 2024-25 Premier League season, Wolverhampton Wanderers ' showdown with Leicester City on Saturday can be classed as a dead rubber. The Old Gold are safe and sound in the top flight thanks to a phenomenal five-game winning run, most recently getting the better of Manchester United 1-0 last weekend thanks to Pablo Sarabia 's fabulous free kick. In contrast, Leicester are simply completing the formalities before their demotion to the Championship, although these final few games will serve as Jamie Vardy 's farewell party before he leaves the club at the end of the season.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides. © Imago Previous meetings: 122 Wolves wins: 45 Draws: 35 Leicester wins: 42 Since first crossing paths all the way back in 1906, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City have built up a healthy head-to-head history over each other, clashing on 122 occasions in all competitions. Unsurprisingly, neither side boasts significantly more victories than the other, but the Old Gold just edge the wins counter with 45 successes compared to 42 for the Foxes, while 35 stalemates have also been played out between the two teams.

The overall head-to-head history coincidentally parallels the more recent showdowns between the sides, who boast two victories each from their last four head-to-heads, as Wolves surged to a 3-0 success at the King Power Stadium in December 2024. The Foxes did the double over the Old Gold in the 2022-23 Premier League season, meanwhile, including a statement 4-0 victory at Molineux that year, although Wolves were victorious by two goals to one on their own patch in February 2022. While Leicester only have to go back to 2022-23 for the last time they did the double over Wolves, the Old Gold have not beaten the Foxes in both league meetings in one season for over half a century, last doing so in the 1957-58 season.

Furthermore, Leicester can proudly show off eight clean sheets from their 13 Premier League battles with Wolves; only against Southampton (nine) and Newcastle United (13) have they registered more shut-outs in the competition. Outside of top-flight action, Wolves and Leicester memorably contested the 1949 FA Cup final, which the Old Gold won 3-1 against a Foxes side who had only just avoided relegation to the third tier that same season. A 7-0 win for Leicester in the 1922-23 Division Two season remains their biggest margin of victory in this fixture to date, but Wolves annihilated their Midlands rivals 10-1 in the First Division in April 1938.
