A woman who had been pronounced dead at a hospital was found to be alive while being transported to her own funeral. Her health had taken a turn for the worse, leading to her being declared deceased and subsequently moved from the mortuary to a funeral parlour in preparation for her burial. However, staff were reportedly stunned when they discovered that the elderly woman not only had a pulse but also exhibited movement in her fingers.
Paramedics at the Son Valenti funeral parlour in Palma, Majorca confirmed she was indeed alive and swiftly transported her back to the city's Juan March de Bunyola Hospital. Her current health status remains undisclosed. An internal investigation has now been launched to ascertain what led to the incorrect pronouncement of her death, according to the Mirror .
This incident bears a striking resemblance to a similar case from February last year, where morgue workers were left petrified as a woman seemingly resurrected, showing signs of movement within a body bag. The unidentified patient, who displayed symptoms of severe malnutrition and lacked any respiratory or brain activity, was declared dead. However, after spending five hours inside a body bag at the San Juan de Dios General Hospital in Guatemala, she suddenly began to move.
Morgue workers were left reeling as they hurried to inform doctors after discovering the woman was alive, resulting in her readmission to the emergency room, reports the Daily Record . Despite their best efforts to revive her, she showed no vital signs and was declared dead for the second time. The hospital has extended its profound compassion to the family of a young woman who tragically died during a period of immense hardship they are facing.
Details surrounding the event are yet to be fully disclosed, with current reports not confirming whether there has been an official investigation. A spokesperson for the hospital elaborated on the critical condition of the young woman when she was admitted, pointing out her "severe malnutrition" and pre-existing medical issues including seizures and cerebral palsy. " In a similarly astonishing case last year in Texas, Sammy Berko, aged 16, suffered a cardiac arrest while at a rock climbing gym and was initially thought to have passed away. Miraculously recovering after continuous CPR for two hours, he was later deemed by one of his physicians as a "literal miracle". Sammy's mother, Jennifer, spoke of the horrific moment with these words: "He climbed to the top of the wall, rang the bell, as we were told, and then his body went limp, and it looked like he was either playing around or passed out.
They weren't quite sure and when they realised he was unresponsive, they lowered him slowly." In light of the grave circumstances, Sammy's distraught parents were afforded the chance to say their private goodbyes. The family had previously endured the sorrow of losing another child named Frankie three years earlier.
Reflecting on the poignant episode, Jennifer conveyed: "I started talking to him, just telling him how much I love him and sorry that we didn't know how to save him. Suddenly, as I started praying, my husband said, 'Oh my gosh, he's moving'." Join our Breaking News and Top Stories WhatsApp community for all the latest news direct to your phone.
