A police cordon was set up near the Equiano Bridge on Riverside before 11.40am.

Onlookers described seeing ambulances and police vehicles along Riverside. A police cordon remained in place at 3.05pm.

A 51-year-old woman was arrested for possessing an offensive weapon and public order offences in relation to the incident. A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police commented just before 5.20pm on the same day: "A 51-year-old woman from Cambridge was arrested this afternoon for public order offences and possession of an offensive weapon.
