Works hours may be extended to finish Vishwamitri project in time

Vadodara: The newly appointed Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu and other senior officials visited the Vishwamitri river to assess the ongoing work on resectioning of the river. The civic body is looking at extending work timings to ensure the project is completed in time. VMC has started dredging one bank of the river.

The dredging is one of the recommendations of the committee appointed by the state govt to suggest measures to mitigate flooding in Vadodara. The municipal commissioner told mediapersons work was progressing well and 40% of the dredging is complete. He added that to finish the project in time, more momentum could be given to it by extending the work timings.



He said work on the other bank of the river will begin soon. Babu emphasized that the work will be conducted according to the directives of the National Green Tribunal. He added that measures to stabilize the riverbanks will also be taken with inputs from experts.
