Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 22: Different organisations here today celebrated World Earth Day by organising diverse programmes on environmental importance.The Law School, University of Jammu celebrated Earth Day under the guidance of Prof Seema Rohmetra, Director of The Law School. The keynote address was delivered by Subash Gupta, former District & Sessions Judge and member of J&K Public Service Commission and he highlighted the evolution of India’s environmental jurisprudence.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge by participants to uphold principles of natural resource conservation and promote sustainable energy practices.The School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Stakna, Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, celebrated World Earth Day 2025 under the guidance of Prof. Dorjay Namgyal, Associate Director, SAS&T, Leh.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Deldan Namgail, Dr. Kunzes Angmo and Dr.
Anwar Hussain, along with others. Different speakers threw light on the significance of Earth Day.Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated World Earth Day at Government High School Tanda in Reasi.
The programme was organized under the guidance of SKUAST-J Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N Tripathi and Director Extension, Prof.
Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. Chief Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal spoke on the protection of planet Earth and gave a detailed view of plastic pollution.
World Earth Day was celebrated in JIAR, Jammu with theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet’. Poster & slogan presentations were done by students from Final Prof and 2nd Prof and the programme concluded by plantation drive at the College campus. The event was organised by Dr.

Sudeep Kanungo, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, USA under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College.
Government Degree College (GDC) Nagrota celebrated Earth Day highlighting environmental responsibility under the global theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet.’ An oath-taking ceremony was organized by Eco Club Sangrakshak of the College. A major focus of the celebration was solid waste segregation and plastic waste collection.
Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan highlighted the theme of shifting towards renewable energy and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.The Eco Warrior Club of Dogra Degree College celebrated Earth Day by organising a creative pot making and planting saplings.
