WWE fans are gearing up for a night of big hitting action this weekend with Backlash coming to UK screens. Backlash is a WWE Premium Live Event that is bringing together some of the hottest names from Raw and SmackDown. Since its inception, Backlash has been a platform for some of the company's biggest and more unforgettable moments in wrestling history continuing the feuds from Wrestlemania, the highlight of the brand's calendar.
WWE fans will be excited to see what Backlash brings however many are still reeling from Wrestlemania 40 where The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes, defeated Roman Reigns in the main event to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship. The Main Event was ‘anything goes’ with a host of cameos with the most notable being industry legends John Cena and The Undertaker. The Undertaker appeared to chokeslam The Rock and neutralise "The Final Boss and soon after, Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship, celebrating in the ring with the likes of Cena, Sami Zayn and Randy Orton, as well as his mother, wife, family and eventually WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
Backlash 2023 was hosted in San Juan, where hometown hero Bad Bunny was pitted against fellow Puerto Rican native Damian Priest. Backlash also saw Cody Rhodes take on the 45-year-old Brock Lesnar in a grudge match and a random pairing of Seth Rollins vs. Omos.
