Wyatt Russell learned some important lessons from his famous parents. On Tuesday, April 22, PEOPLE spoke to the 38-year-old actor at the London premiere of his upcoming adventure film, Marvel's Thunderbolts*, where he shared rules that mom Goldie Hawn , 79, and dad Kurt Russell , 74, gave him for success. “Be on time, don’t be an a------ and remember your lines,” Wyatt proudly told PEOPLE without hesitation.
In addition to Wyatt, the Death Becomes Her actress and the Tombstone actor have a blended family and are parents to Oliver Hudson , 48, Kate Hudson , 46, and Boston Russell , 45. In 2023, Wyatt and his father got a chance to watch each other on set when they both starred in the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters . The 10-episode miniseries followed the Godzilla universe most recently explored in 2021's Godzilla vs.
Kong and 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters . Kurt starred as Lee Shaw, while Wyatt played the same character for flashback scenes. " Kurt told Entertainment Tonight during a joint interview with Wyatt in November 2023.
The Thing actor called filming the series “a wonderful opportunity to get to work with Wyatt.” Further discussing working together, the veteran actor added, "I suddenly found myself saying, 'God, Wyatt's going to create this character. I'm going to play him later on in life, so it's all gotta make sense.
’ And I suddenly realized, I've watched him all my life, but I've never examined him." He said the deep dive made him see parts of himself in his son. The opportunities to learn run deep in their family.
During a January 2024 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers with his father, Wyatt, who shares two children with wife Meredith Hagner , revealed how Kurt was embracing life as a grandfather with his then-2-year-old son, Buddy Prine. "He's awesome, 'cause he can do all of the hard sort of lessons that sometimes I don't want to have to do," Wyatt said of his dad. "But luckily he doesn't hide any of who he is to who my son is.
