A borough youth centre's future has been secured for the next couple of decades after undergoing a major refurbishment. Harwood Young People's Centre offers a wide range of activities, sports and workshops for young people including arts and crafts, games to cookery, day trips, and even residential experiences. More than 150 young people a week attend the Longsight Lane centre.

“I also took the opportunity to thank the amazing youth service staff team. “They deliver fantastic activities week in, week out, supported by a dedicated team of both paid and voluntary youth workers. “Another huge investment into the future of our town, our young people.

” Cllr Les Webb, of Harwood, said: "The refurbishment and investment into the material fabric of the youth centre is much welcomed. The youth centre sees young 150 visitors a week (Image: Andy Morgan) "It provides a long term commitment and clear commitment to the young people of Harwood and Bradshaw for a minimum of 20 years that they can rely on child services and out of school activities. "The fun and interaction being displayed by the children was palpable.

"I am proud that as councillors our commitment to provide funding also up to and including Easter 2026 to date will help working parents and coupled with the provision of lunch under the Holiday Activities and Food Programme scheme. "It will be inclusive for all children and young families within the ward.".
