YouTube Music is reportedly experimenting with a new feature that lets users share lyrics from their favourite songs directly to social platforms like Instagram—bringing it one step closer to rival Spotify and Apple Music, which have offered the feature for some time. First spotted by AssembleDebug and Android Authority in January, the feature allows users to highlight specific lines from a song’s lyrics within the app’s Now Playing screen. Once selected, users will see a Next button followed by a Share option, which opens up a menu of social media platforms, including Instagram Stories.

There's also the option to download the lyrics card as an image, offering more flexibility for those who want to post manually across platforms. The feature builds on YouTube Music’s existing capabilities, which already allow sharing songs to Instagram and Snapchat.
It’s part of a broader push by YouTube to make the music app more engaging and user-friendly. This update is said to follow a string of recent tests, including redesigned artist pages and tweaks to the app’s signature audio/video toggle. While there’s no official release date yet, these additions suggest YouTube Music is gearing up for a more feature-rich experience later this year.
For users bouncing between streaming apps, the new tools may offer more reasons to stick—or switch—to YouTube Music..
