Day two was all about composure and grit as Zimbabwe’s batters stepped up, led by an aggressive half-century from opener Brian Bennett and a calm.

In addition to that was a mature knock from Sean Williams, who anchored the middle order with a vital 59 off 108 deliveries. The visitors were 88-3 at one point, having lost both openers and Nicholas Welch in quick succession. Williams, along with Nyasha Mayavo (35), steadied the ship before the tail wagged admirably.

Notably, Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani added useful lower-order runs, with Ngarava unbeaten on 28 and Muzarabani hitting a brisk 17, helping Zimbabwe stretch their lead to 82. The pick of Bangladesh’s bowlers was Mahedi Hasan Miraz, who grabbed a well-deserved five-for (5/52), troubling both left- and right-handers with flight and turn. Nahid Rana’s early burst earned him three wickets, including both openers.

In the final session, Blessing Muzarabani struck with the new ball, dismissing Shadman Islam for 4. However, the Zimbabwean camp will rue a missed opportunity when Nyasha Mayavo dropped a regulation chance off Muzarabani, reprieving Mahmudul Hasan Joy on seven. The opener then played with more freedom.

That miss could prove costly, as Joy went on to reach 28* by stumps, forming a steady stand with Mominul Haque. Subscribe to Blog via Email.
