Abdul Sattar Edhi was a true hero of Pakistan, dedicating his entire life to humanitarian service. Originally from Karachi, his only goal was to serve humanity. He began with a small clinic in Karachi and gradually expanded his work into what is now the Edhi Foundation.

Today, the Edhi Foundation operates over 1,800 ambulances, available at any time to help those in need—all thanks to the efforts of one man. Edhi began this mission alone, proving that one person can make an extraordinary difference. He also established hospitals to treat the poor and opened homes for orphans.

Whenever a disaster struck, he was there to provide food, shelter, and support. Edhi was known for his kindness, empathy, and unwavering commitment to humanity. Though he led a massive organisation and had access to significant resources, he lived a simple life, embodying humility and sincerity.

His efforts were recognised with many awards, including Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, the Lenin Peace Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay Award, and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Peace Prize. He passed away on 8 July 2016. Abdul Sattar Edhi was truly a national treasure and should be remembered and honoured by every citizen of Pakistan.
