The project aims to “develop a wind farm to be implemented in the municipality of Tavira and the respective Very High Voltage Power Line”, which will then connect the electricity production park with wind turbines to the Public Service Electricity Grid Connection (RESP) substation, according to the announcement published on the participa.pt portal. “Within the scope of the PDA [Scope Definition Proposal], a global study area is presented that encompasses a set of three areas for the development of future corridors as possible alternatives for the connection to the RESP, encompassing the substations of Estoi [Faro], Tavira and Tunes [Silves], since the point for this connection has not yet been defined”, states the summary text of the initiative.
The same source highlighted that, “in the EIA [Environmental Impact Study] phase, there should be only one corridor, depending on the connection point to the grid that is approved, and which may have several alternatives for the layout of the power line”. In the proposal for defining the scope, the promoter, in this case Madoqua IPP, S.A.
, indicates to the authority with competence in the area of the Environment, which will then pronounce itself on the Environmental Impact Study, the “scope of the work to be developed” to carry out the study, as can be read in the introduction to the proposal, also available on the participa.pt portal. The proposal to define the scope of the Cachopo Wind Farm, a rural parish in the municipality of Tavira, in the Caldeirão mountain range, 40 kilometres from the coast and the municipal headquarters, also establishes “the methodologies and the degree of depth of analysis to be taken into account in each of the environmental factors that will be analyzed in the EIA”, reads the same introduction.
“The project consists of the implementation of a wind farm with an installed capacity of approximately 95.2 MW”, characterised the promoting company in the PDA, clarifying that the installation of “14 wind turbines and respective assembly platform with a nominal unit power of 6.8 MW is planned, corresponding to a total installed power of 95.
2 MW”. There are also plans to build a “road access network to the wind turbines”, a “medium voltage underground electrical network to connect the wind turbines to the electrical substation” and a “collector electrical substation [..
.] with a control building and warehouse”, he added. “To support the execution of the work, the installation of a shipyard of approximately 1,500 square meters is also planned”, adds the PDA, now in public consultation.
Interested parties can submit their contributions until 20 May, through the participa.pt portal..
