College : Oregon Co-Coaches of the Year Tony and Will Robinson Durant The father-son coaches guided 5A Durant to its first state tournament berth since 2009. Will was 10 games into his sixth season as his alma mater's head coach when he died on Christmas Eve along with his 8-year-old daughter Clara, who he tried to save after a heavy rainstorm caused the Robinsons’ sport utility vehicle to hydroplane, and it was swept into a swirling drainage ditch in Sherman, Texas. His father, Tony, who had been assisting Will for 2 1/2 years, filled in as head coach and the Lady Lions, without any senior starters, went 13-4 the rest of the season before losing to state champion El Reno in the quarterfinals.
Tony said, "I didn’t want somebody else coaching Will’s team. I know that sounds selfish. He worked so hard for this.
I don’t want some coach coming in and taking credit for what he did.” First team Player, school, Cl., Ht.
