FAIRFIELD — Rodriguez High School graduate Gianni Miles continued his dominant sophomore season at Jessup University with another school record and an all-conference performance. Miles won the 100 meters at the PacWest Track and Field Championships in Fresno Saturday. He clocked a winning time of 10.
51 seconds. In the preliminary round, Miles ran 10.37 to break his previous school record from earlier this season.
Miles also finished second in the 200 with a time of 21.40 for all-conference recognition. He also ran a leg for the sixth-place 4x100 relay team (42.
43) and the eighth-place 4x400 squad (3:21.58). The conference finals brought an end to the first Division II season for Jessup.
Miles will likely join the Warriors’ top athletes for the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship beginning May 7 in Columbia, South Carolina. Miles qualified for the NAIA national finals in Indiana last May. Unfortunately, he battled cramps and finished 20th in the 200 meter preliminaries with a time of 24.
27. Freshman Skye Odom (Vanden) finished fourth overall for Cal State Bakersfield in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 5 inches at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational. Odom was also 13th in the long jump (17-1.
5). Sophomore Gavin Dimick (Vacaville) took second place in the men’s pole vault for Washington State at home in Pullman during the Cougar Classic Invitational. Dimick’s top vault was 15-03.
Sophomore CIerra Kinsey (Armijo) had a busy Causeway Classic for UC Davis as the Aggies competed against rival Sacramento State. Kinsey finished third in the 400 meters (56.06) and fourth in the 200 (25.
43). She was also part of the second-place 4x100 relay team (45.95) and the second-place 4x400 squad (3:47.
80). Sophomore catcher-infielder Kaden Wilde (Rodriguez) had a very productive week at the plate for Cedarville. Wilde finished 11-for-20 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs in games against Akron and Thomas More.
Sophomore shortstop Landon Troutt (Rodriguez) went 8-for-17 with eight runs scored and three RBIs as the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy had games against St.
Elizabeth, John Jay and St. Joseph’s-Long Island. Graduate student and outfielder Kenny DeCelle (Vacaville) went 3-for-11 for USF with three runs scored and three RBIs against San Jose State and Pepperdine.
Graduate student and outfielder Andreyes Palacios (Rodriguez) went 3-for-11 for Simpson with a double, four runs scored and two RBI in a series against La Sierra. Graduate student and infielder Brian McClellin (Vacaville) and senior outfielder DJ Scott (Rodriguez) hit home runs in the same game for Pacific in a 7-2 loss to Santa Clara. McClellin finished the three-game series 3-for-12 with a double, a home run, four runs scored and an RBI.
Scott was 3-for-12 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs. Junior infielder Connor Ross (Solano) went 2-for-7 with a home run and two RBIs for Cal Baptist in games against UC Santa Barbara and Utah Valley. Sophomore outfielder Connor Broschard (Rodriguez) had a pair of hits, one run scored and two RBIs for Lewis and Clark in matchups with Warner Pacific and Willamette.
Sophomore pitcher Nathan Schikore earned a win for Willamette. Schikore threw five innings, allowed nine hits, three earned runs, two walks and struck out four as Willamette defeated Lewis and Clark, 14-3. Junior pitcher Aidan Russell (Vacaville) had one no-decision in a start for San Diego State.
Russell threw six innings and allowed just three hits, no earned runs, three walks and struck out five. Senior pitcher Logan Piper (Vacaville) made two appearances for Cal in games against Saint Mary’s and Notre Dame. Piper pitched a combined 2.
2 innings and allowed six hits, six earned runs, no walks and had one strikeout. Junior pitcher Kevin Parker (Solano) pitched an inning for Utah Valley in a 7-5 loss to BYU. Parker allowed two hits, one earned run, no walks and had a strikeout.
Freshman pitcher Finn Chapman (Vacaville) pitched an inning for Saint Mary’s in the game against Cal, allowing no hits, no earned runs, one walk with one strikeout. Senior pitcher Victor Martinez (Rodriguez) recorded one out on the mound for Santa Clara in a game against Pacific and allowed no hits, three earned runs, two walks and had one strikeout. Junior shortstop Kate Tobola (Rodriguez) went a solid 5-for-7 with two doubles and an RBI for Dominican California during a two-game series against Menlo.
Senior outfielder Tai Wilson (Vanden) went 5-for-9 at the plate with a double, four runs scored and an RBI for Seattle in games against Utah Valley. Sophomore outfielder Ka’Liyah Gipson (Vanden) was 3-for-10 with three runs scored for Jackson State in games against Bethune-Cookman. Senior outfielder Kristy Regalado (Solano) finished her week 3-for-13 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI as Georgian Court had games against Post, Bloomfield, Caldwell and Goldey-Beacom.
Sophomore catcher Katelyn Kilgore (Rodriguez) went 2-for-7 with an RBI for Colorado-Colorado Springs in games against Metro State, Denver. Senior infielder Bianca Belo-Diaz (Vanden, Solano) had two hits, scored four runs and drove in two for Shawnee State against Indiana University-Columbus and St. Mary’s-Wood.
Freshman utility player Ayanna Frank (Vanden) had a hit, two runs and two RBIs as Alabama State played the University of Alabama and Florida A&M. Freshman outfielder Kiah Silva had two hits and scored a run for Saint Mary’s during a series against Oregon State. Freshman shortstop Mia Zabat added an RBI.
Senior utility player Sydney Davis (Vacaville) had a hit and an RBI for Stanislaus State during a series against Cal Poly Humboldt. Sophomore infielder Jaidayn White had a hit, scored two runs and drove in one for Cal State Monterey Bay during a series with Cal State Dominguez Hills. Sophomore Sofia Vallejos-Coleman (Rodriguez) pitched 5.
1 innings for Bethune-Cookman in an 8-3 loss to Memphis. Vallejos-Coleman allowed seven hits, four earned runs, no walks and struck out two. Freshman first baseman Maalia Cherry (Vanden) had one hit for Cal State Bakersfield in a 5-4 loss to Long Beach State.
