Angel Habacon and Janelle Bachar formed a lethal duo to carry San Beda University to a 21-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-13 win against San Sebastian College-Recoletos for their breakthrough win in the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball on Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. Habacon starred with 25 points together with 16 receptions while lefty opposite hitter Bachar churned out 20 markers to help the Lady Red Spikers end a 10-game dry spell to finally enter the win column. San Beda, which got its first win with a complete lineup, broke a 7-all deadlock in the crucial fourth set with Habacon, Bachar, and middle blocker Erin Navarro fueling a 7-1 rampage to take a 14-8 cushion.

Navarro then unleashed back-to-back points for a 16-9 cushion while veteran and former Lady Stag Reyann Cañete soared from the left wing to bring her side to a 22-12 lead against her old team. Bachar put the punctuation, soaring above the wall put up by KJ Dionisio and Zenith Deposoy from the right wing to finish it off. Navarro posted 12 points while team captain Cañete chipped in 10 markers.

"Sobrang saya po kasi 'yung naging motivation po namin is sisirain po namin 'yung chain. May naka-chain po kasi sa amin na bigat sa pakiramdam," Cañete said. "Parang ang bigat po kasi sa pakiramdam namin lalo na nu'ng after ng first round.

May heartbreak kami at takot kaming magkamali. So ngayon, pinatunayan namin na kaya namin." —JKC, GMA Integrated News.
