ONITSHA – The President-general of Anambra State Non-Indigenes Association (AMISA-ANIAS), Chief Great Ikechukwu Ugwuoke has called for sustenance of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, the pet project of the wife of the governor of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo which he said emphasizes use of organic products. Addressing a select mothers who he described as nation builders on the occasion to mark Mothering Day, Ugwuoke observed that the sensitization programmes of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo would help women on crop production, good health and healthcare practices.

He extolled Soludo’s wife for her Healthy Living project routine physical exercise, adding the weekly Saturday Workout Programme has helped a good number of women as well as men to have time to exercise themselves. The ANISA-ANIAS PG appreciated her for debunking the opinion that in blending variety of fruits, healthy smoothies should incorporate mostly vegetables. According to him, the wife of the governor has continued to advocate, nutrition wise, that multiple fruits for one shake is wrong because of sugar, adding it should be 90 vegetables and 10 percent fruits.

He lauded the governor’s wife for her nutritional tips especially in the emphasis on the fact that healthy smoothie should be 90 percent vegetable and 10 percent fruits. Describing her as a nutritionist, he extolled the governor’s wife for sensitizing the populace that smoothie should not be produced with milk or any other canned product, adding that everything about drink should be natural and fresh. Ugwuoke said the governor’s wife teaches on steps for cooking healthy traditional delicacies that may have been abandoned and how to make several households foods in the most nutritious way without artificial addictives.

He praised her for introducing Healthy Living Exhibition Garden which encourages women, girl-child, youth and even men to have small gardens around them. The ANISA-ANIAS PG also stated that mothers’ selfless dedication makes them family stabilizers without whose presence and commitment the centre cannot hold in most families and households. Ugwwuoke lamented that women have not been given their rightful place in the society and tasked policy makers and legislators to make policies and laws that give women opportunity to participate in decision making organs.

He said that the occasion of Mothering Day offers a great opportunity to celebrate women’s naturalness, resilience, sacrificial love, support base and other contributions aimed at achieving a better society, citing the strategic case of Namibian President who was just sworn in. According to him, women are in the best stead to initiate actions favourable to them, stressing that the patriarchal society in which men are in domination has relegated womenfolk to the background, politically, socially, culturally, educationally and economically. He called for creation of more political space for women so that more voices favourable to issues affecting women and girl-child can be addressed and redressed meaningfully.

Chief Ugwuoke believed that given women chance in political arena would bring about peace because women generally have natural flair for peace building and development..
