Hundreds gathered outside the state Capitol once again Saturday to protest President Donald Trump's policies and what they see as threats to American democracy. The protest along K Street, organized under the national 50501 Movement, which stands for “50 States, 50 Protests, 1 Movement,” was just one of many anti-Trump demonstrations held across the U.S.
in cities large and small. Waving signs and flags, protesters raised issues with Trump's deportation efforts and called on the need for due process, referencing the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran citizen living in Maryland who was wrongfully deported to his home country and imprisoned. Karl Merchant, a Lincoln native who came to the Capitol, said Trump's actions were impeachable.

Garcia (has) been deported with no due process, no habeas corpus. And if those rules don’t apply to him, and they don’t apply to the cases of legal residents, then they don’t apply to anyone.” People are also reading.
.. April Carey, another protester, said the Trump administration was circumventing the U.
S. Supreme Court, which has called on the Trump administration to facilitate Garcia's return. "This is absolutely out of control," she said.
The nationwide demonstrations came just two weeks after similar anti-Trump protests drew thousands to the streets across the country, including in Lincoln. Saturday's events included a march through midtown Manhattan, a rally in front of the White House and a demonstration at a Massachusetts commemoration marking the start of the American Revolutionary War 250 years ago, The Associated Press reported. And it included a rally in Lincoln, where protesters said they're determined to continue spreading their message.
“I think it’s important for people to know that it’s not just big cities like New York and Chicago and Los Angeles where people feel this way,” Merchant said. “Nebraskans are also outraged, and I hope that message gets across."
