Emanuel, who is executive chairman of WME Group (Endeavor’s new name), received $175.8 million via the privatization of Endeavor. Other assets cut loose of late have wound up back in Emanuel’s orbit. He was part of a consortium, which also included major private equity firms Apollo Global Management and RedBird Capital, that acquired tennis tournaments the Madrid Open and Miami Open from Endeavor for $1 billion, according to a report by Bloomberg. As TKO focuses ever more on sports, its main holdings are coming up on significant media rights opportunities.
The WWE, which just made a $5 billion deal with Netflix, is near the end of its streaming deal with Peacock. The UFC, meanwhile, is in an exclusive negotiating window with Disney for rights to its pay-per-view events. Shapiro has said the company is looking to double its current deal, which would put it north of $1 billion a year.
