A day after the Arizona Cardinals announced the addition of six rookie free agents, they had to trim the offseason roster. They made those moves on Tuesday. They released that tight end Benhard Seikovits and offensive lineman Matt Jones were released.
Jones was added to the practice squad in late December and then re-signed for 2025. He joined the NFL last year as an undrafted rookie out of Ohio State and signed with the Miami Dolphins. He was cut before the season began and then was not in the league until the Cardinals added him to the practice squad.
Seikovits' release is the end of an era. He spent the last four years with the Cardinals on the practice squad through the international exemption for coming through the league's International Pathways Program. He was awarded to the team in May of 2021 and had been with the team ever since.
The Cardinals are now using their international exemption on rookie free agent Valentin Senn, an offensive lineman out of Connecticut. He, like Seikovits, is from Austria. With that exemption, we can Senn to be with the team all season.
