In a significant turn of events, a notorious ' ' was allegedly injured during a police shooting in the of Guwahati. The confrontation unfolded as police attempted to capture the suspect following a reported theft in the Sundarpur locality. According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Rajoj Daimari, had allegedly stolen a gold chain from a woman in Sundarpur and was fleeing the scene.
During a subsequent police operation to apprehend him, Daimari resisted arrest, prompting officers to open fire. He sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said that they also recovered a pistol from the location, believed to have been used by the suspect.
Daimari reportedly has a criminal record of over 100 cases filed against him across Assam’s police stations. Known for his extensive involvement in theft, robbery, car theft, and even abductions, he has long been a significant figure in the state’s underworld. In another similar incident, the Basistha Police have detained two suspected thieves, Amir Ali and Kishore Medhi, who are believed to be involved in several thefts in the city.
The duo was arrested as part of an ongoing probe into a series of chain-snatching cases that have been causing concern among residents of the city..
