Athletes shine during region track and field meet

Athletes from Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester and Summerville claimed individual region championships last week.

Athletes from Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester and Summerville claimed individual region championships last week. All three schools captured a region title in multiple events during the 2025 5A Region 8 Track and Field Championships hosted by James Island April 30 through May 1. Ashley Ridge and Summerville both had an athlete claim a pair of region championships.

Ashley Ridge senior Alana Braxton won the Girls Long Jump with a 5.97-meter leap and the Girls Triple Jump with a 12.37 mark.



Ashley Ridge’s Ryan Campbell won the Boys 200-meter Dash with a 22.12 time. Kendall Wilcher won the Boys 800 with a 1:59.

76 time. Quentel Riley won the Boys 110 Hurdles with a 14.78 time.

The AR Boys 4x400 Relay team won with a 3:30.36 time. Other Ashely Ridge athletes with a Top 3 finish are Ryan Wallace (Boys 1600), Riley (Boys 400 Hurdles), Ayden Ray (Boys 400 Hurdles), Dallas Turner (Boys High Jump), Micah Williams (Boys Pole Vault) and Ja’Niyah Henderson (Girls 400 Hurdles).

Summerville senior Jaquez Walker won the Boys Long Jump with a 6.71 mark and the Boys Triple Jump with a 13.67 mark.

Nick Alberti won the Boys 1600 with a 4:29.51 time. David Greer won the Boys 3200 with a 9:49.

79 time. Julian Covington won the Bous 400 Hurdles with a 57.21 time.

The Summerville Boys 4x800 Relay team won with a 8:18.59 time. Warren Nelson won the Boys High Jump with a 1.

98 mark. Summerville’s Taylor Blackwelder won the Girls 3200 with a 11:15.65 time.

Jillian Fickling won the Girls 400 Hurdles with a 1:08.40 time. The Summerville Girls 4x100 Relay team placed first with a 47.

29 time. Other Summerville athletes with a Top 3 finish are Hunter Schultz (Boys 100), Ben Hamilton (Boys 800), Alberti (Boys 3200), Covington (Boys 110 Hurdles), Walker (Boys High Jump), Nelson (Boys Long Jump), Xavier White (Boys Triple Jump), Trinity Jones (Girls 100), A’zedah Anderson (Girls 200), Camryn Dillings (Girls 400), Blackwelder (Girls 1600), Kinley Brown (Girls 3200), Ficklig (Girls 100 Hurdles), Alaina Williams (Girls 400 Hurdles), Destinee Grant (Girls High Jump), Addilyn Elrod (Girls Pole Vault) and Nikki Brown (Girls Pole Vault). Fort Dorchester’s Christian Krueger won the Boys Pole Vault with a 4.

09 mark. Malayia Morrow won the Girls 400 with a 56.05 time.

Lailah Holman won the Girls Long Jump with a 1.57 mark. Saniyah Joyner won the Girls Discus with a 39.

65 mark. Kyleigh Moore won the Girls Javelin with a 35.38 throw.
