AN award-winning pan-Asian restaurant is set to open a second location in the city's Southside. Mitchell Street eatery Lychee Oriental, winner of the Best Chinese Restaurant in Scotland award, is opening up on Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands. The restaurant, from award winning chef Jimmy Lee, serves Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes (Image: Colin Mearns, Newsquest) Pictures taken on Thursday show signage for Lychee Oritental have gone up at 67 Kilmarnock Road saying the brand is "coming soon".
Their website also now as a tab for Lychee Oriental Southside . The restaurant is replacing Salt & Chilli Oriental which was also owned by chef Lee. (Image: Colin Mearns, Newsquest) Salt & Chilli opened on Kilmarnock Road in November 2022.
The restaurant also won awards during the years it was open, including Best Newcomer at the UK Restaurant Awards 2023 and Best Chinese Restaurant in Scotland at the 2024 Deliveroo Awards. The brand previously had restaurants on Dumbarton Road and Hamilton but their only remaining eatery is now in Edinburgh..
