The Yemen Executive Mine Action Center (YEMAC) in Sana’a announced on Tuesday that the American bomb is one of the most dangerous types of internationally banned weapons and poses an extreme threat to civilians and civilian infrastructure. It noted that the use of such highly explosive and destructive weapons against civilian sites "constitutes a grave violation of international law under Article 8, as well as the provisions of the four Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols." The center also stated that the evidence and the extent of the destruction confirm that this type of American weapon was used, Al Mayadeen reported.
According to YEMAC, this bomb has the most severe impact on civilians, as its detonation temperature reaches up to 3,500 degrees Celsius. According to the center, the bomb “leads to a widespread rise in cancer cases, congenital deformities, and fatal births." "It also devastates the environment, contaminates soil, air, and groundwater, and destroys natural life in affected areas,” it added.
The center emphasized the need to uphold all obligations under international humanitarian law and to adhere to the legal standards governing the use of force, including the protection of civilians' right to life..
