NOTTS County can still snatch an automatic promotion spot despite their sudden wobble. That’s the confident prediction from boss Stuart Maynard going into the Valley Parade clash with City. Barring leaders Port Vale, everyone in the mix is having an up-and-down time of it as the League Two finish line draws near.
The Magpies have won just three times in the last 10 games and tripped up with successive defeats against Colchester and Salford to drop to sixth place. That leaves them currently four points off the top three and five behind the Bantams. But Maynard insists that gap can be bridged at this late stage.
“There are still four games to go,” he said. “There’s still a lot of points to play for. “All the teams are playing each other in and around us.
We’ve got big games, Bradford and Donny on the last day of the season. “I still believe it will go all the way to the wire. I’ve said it all along.
” Notts County have had an extra day to prepare for the University of Bradford Stadium after their 3-1 home loss to Salford last Friday. Maynard is convinced that his team can bounce back. “I know this group always respond,” he told BBC Radio Nottingham .
“They’ll look at themselves and come back fighting and ready to put it right. “We go into every game wanting to win, no matter where we play. If you look at our away record, whoever we go to and where they are in the league, we go there to win.
“It will be the same again. We’ll go to Bradford with that belief that we can get three points. "We've had a little bump in the road in the last two games but this is a game where we believe we can go out and show what we're about.
"We need to play with lots of courage, lots of passion and give everything we've got.".
