Barbara Steen OBITUARY Barbara Joice Steen, 62, of West Suffield, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 13, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, NY on July 3, 1962 daughter of the late Ernest Algot Franklin and Betty Joice (Bredesen) Steen. Barbara graduated from Suffield High School class of 1980.

Barb spent her entire 40 plus year career at the Travelers Companies, starting as a teenager in 1980. She began in the Claims Department and then moved to the Law Department providing administrative support to a number of company lawyers over the years. From Legal she moved to the Special Liabilities Group and later to International continuing to provide support to the Company’s lawyers as a Senior Administrative Assistant.



At Travelers Barb was also involved in company sports leagues, employee club events and her wide circle of friends and colleagues. Barb was a talented crafter, and a wonderful quilter. She thoroughly enjoyed camping, bowling and auto racing.

She is survived by her brother Lloyd Steen, sister-in-law Brenda Steen, niece Erika Steen and longtime companion Daniel Grasso. She was predeceased by her parents and nephew Douglas Steen. Her family would like to thank Dr.

Becker, Kate Medow and all the staff at UConn for their exceptional care. The Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, April 26 at 12:00 (Noon) at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, CT. Calling hours will be from 10:00am-12:00 prior to the memorial service.
