Apr. 22—MILLER CITY — Lincolnview freshman pitcher Graham Kill got his first high school win less than two weeks ago and has had two more since then, with the most recent coming in an 8-3 win by the Lancers at Miller City on Wednesday.Kill (5 2/3 innings, 4 hits, 6 strikeouts, 4 walks) came within four outs of his first high school shutout as Lincolnview won for the seventh time in eight games this season.
Miller City lost for only the second time in 10 games."This was his third start for us. He now has wins over Ottoville, Perry and a really good Miller City team.
I thought he threw the ball pretty well today and trusted our defense to make plays," Lincolnview coach Eric Fishpaw said."He has a good presence on the mound for being a young freshman. He's not scared of the moment and wants the ball.
We trust our defense and he's going to throw it in the zone and let our defense work."We've got a good bunch of hitters one through nine. They all do a good job.
Cold or hot, they're excited to play ball. We're seeing the ball really well as a team, led by Holden Price today and Chase Overholt at the top of the lineup. One through nine, we're really excited about our lineup and we've got some guys on the bench we could throw into the lineup and give us a good chance," he said.
Lincolnview got five runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits to go up 8-1.Overholt started the inning with a triple but was thrown out trying to score on an infield grounder hit by Price. Moody was walked intentionally and Stevens was unintentionally walked to load the bases.
